What does consumption free, authoring paid mean?
Anyone can consume a product built with SubstrateUI without runtime fees. The free roster is open; authoring with finished Pro compositions requires the one-time Pro purchase.
What can I use without buying Pro?
The free roster, design tokens, density and motion systems, themes, public registry, documentation, and playground remain available without a Pro purchase.
How does the shadcn CLI integration work?
Free items install from the public shadcn registry. Pro compositions are delivered through the authenticated Pro registry after purchase. In both cases, the code is copied into your project.
Do I need shadcn/ui installed first?
Yes. SubstrateUI extends shadcn/ui v2 and Tailwind CSS v4, and works alongside your existing shadcn components.
What is the refund policy?
We offer a 14-day refund policy. Email hello@substrateui.com within 14 days of purchase if SubstrateUI Pro is not right for your project.
